Ben Hangen, PT, MPT, OCS
Ben is originally from Rockville, MD. He did his undergraduate work at Eastern University and earned his Master’s in Physical Therapy from Drexel University in Philadelphia. After graduation in 1997, Ben treated patients at an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy center where he received further training on manual therapy techniques and performance training. He moved to the Upstate of SC in 2004, and is now a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist (OCS) with the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. While Ben is not at the office, he likes to be outdoors camping and fishing, golfing, or woodworking.
Paul Hecker, PT, MSPT, OCS
Paul is a native of South Carolina. He earned his undergraduate degree here in Greenville at Furman University, majoring in Health and Exercise Science. After receiving his Physical Therapy degree from the University of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama, he has since then focused on Orthopedics and Manual Therapy. He is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist (OCS) with the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. His clinical interests include treatment of the spine with Manual Therapy and Functional Training. Paul’s down time is spent with family, and his hobbies include golf and the outdoors.
Andrew Mitchum, PT, DPT
Originally from Columbia, SC, Andrew earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Coker College in Hartsville, SC. He then went on to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of South Carolina. His goals are to become certified in both manual and massage therapy. In his off-time, Andrew likes outdoor activities and watching or participating in any type of sport to include baseball and golf.
Mary Kay Heffernan, PT, DPT
Mary Kay is a physical therapist at our Grove Road location. She completed her undergraduate degree from Erskine College with a degree in Accounting and Sports Management. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2010 from the University of St. Augustine in St. Augustine, Florida. Mary Kay has worked in outpatient orthopedic clinics since graduating incorporating her background in manual therapy with a wide variety of patients from children all the way up to professional athletes. When she is not spending time with her husband and two dogs, she enjoys running, anything outdoors, dancing, and eating all different types of food..
Amanda Cunningham, PTA
Physical Therapy Assistant
Amanda is from Jacksonville, NC. Amanda graduated from Martin Community College in 2006 with an Associates degree of Physical Therapy Assistant. Amanda's experience has been in outpatient settings with 4yrs aboard Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base. While treating Marines and Sailors at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune Amanda had some experience in Vestibular Therapy. Amanda moved to the Upstate in January 2012 for her husband to pursue full time ministry work. In her free time she enjoys hiking.
Christy Drayton, PTA
Physical Therapy Assistant
Christy completed her Associate in Science Degree for PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, WA. Christy has focused her continued education on manual therapy techniques, mainly in outpatient orthopedics clinics, but also has experience from skilled nursing facilities in gait and general conditioning. During time away from her fulfilling career, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, running, playing sports, and spending time with her twin boys.
Audrey Zongrone, LMT, NMT
Licensed Massage Therapist
Originally from New York, Audrey has lived in the SC Upstate since 1998. Audrey and her family moved to Spartanburg where she worked as a fitness trainer and job coach for Spartanburg District 7 and McCarthy Teszler School. She received her massage therapy training at The Southestern School of Neuromuscular and Massage Therapy in Greenville in 2003 where she also earned certification as a Neuromuscular Therapist.
Audrey began by working in area spas while building a private practice at The Westside Club in Spartanburg. After a busy and rewarding 5 years at TWC, she decided to transition to a clinical setting where she might learn to be more effective in helping people manage pain. The first was an Anderson Chiropractic Clinic where she administered manual therapy and therapeutic exercise with a focus on posture correction. Audrey came to Elite in July, 2011 and says she is excited to work in a setting where she can keep learning and honing her craft. She is trained in Neuromuscular Therapy, Hot Stone, Thai Yoga, and prenatal massage but primarily uses an integrated approach to postural correction as a means to treat painful areas.
Holly Hale, LMT
Licensed Massage Therapist
Holly Hale is originally from Laurens, South Carolina. She received her BS degree from Lander University for Exercise Science in 2011. She went on to earn a certificate for Massage Therapy from Piedmont Technical College in 2012. Currently, she is studying to enter a Masters program for physician assistants. She now lives in Greenville, South Carolina with her boyfriend and wonderful dog, Theo. She enjoys reading, hiking, and walking Theo in downtown Greenville.
Julie Knox, LMT
Licensed Massage Therapist
Julie is from Belton, South Carolina. She received her massage therapy degree from The Carolina School of Massage and Wellness Center in Greenville, South Carolina. After working in the medical field for six years and suffering some muscle pain of her own, she experienced firsthand how massage could be of great benefit. Shortly after, she decided to go back to school and become a massage therapist and it is truly a rewarding career. When she is not at work Julie enjoys spending time with her family, friends and going to her children's extracurricular activities
Sally Kate Patterson
Public Relations Coordinator
Sally Kate joins us from Clinton, South Carolina as our Public Relations Coordinator. With a Business degree from Presbyterian College, she helps out Elite by developing relationships with referring doctors’ offices and local businesses. She actively involves Elite in community events, such as the TD Bank Reedy River Run and Upstate Women’s Show. In her spare time, Sally Kate likes to visit downtown Greenville, sample local restaurants, and cheer for various sports teams!
Anna has lived in the area of Pendleton, SC her entire life. She graduated from Anderson University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Anna enjoys volunteering with children’s programs at church, singing, fishing, and spending quality time with her family and husband. She loves interacting with people, and plans to stay in the health field throughout her career.
Brande is a native of Anderson, SC. As a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School, she was a five-year letterman on the women’s basketball and softball teams. She attended Lander University where she earned her B.S. in Exercise Science as well as being a member of the women’s softball team. Her athletic background and commitment to a healthy, balanced lifestyle are what interested Brande in the field of exercise science. She wants to instill in others the benefits of wellness and making positive lifestyle changes. Brande enjoys playing and watching sports, exercising, and going to concerts.
Kenni works with us as a Physical Therapy Aid at our Grove Road office. Although she's lived in FL, GA, AL, PA, and England, she and her family have since relocated back to their native Greenville, SC. She has a degree in Exercise Science from the College of Charleston, and is planning to further her education in hopes of becoming a Physical Therapist. Outside of work, Kenni coaches a girl's volleyball team at Carolina One in Greenville, and she enjoys hanging out in downtown Greenville with friends and family.
Lacy is from Greer, SC. She graduated from Tri- County Techincal College in 2007 with an Associates in Business. In her spare time Lacy enjoys reading a good book and spending time with her family.
